where the world gets a warm, witty, and wonderfully offbeat twist through the eyes of Charles and his twin sisters, Charlene and Caroline Efiong. We’re a trio of creatives who thrive on curiosity, craft, and a dash of delightful daydreaming.

The Trio

Charlene

Charlene is a humanities-minded girl with an ever-wandering imagination. She devours all sorts of books, especially the brain-tickling ones and has a knack for abstract thought. A budding poet and prose explorer, she’s already published two poems in The Melting Pot, curated by Stuart Watkins. She’s dreams of a future in journalism. When she’s not writing, she’s appreciating art in any form.

Charles

Charles is a creative with a flair for design, storytelling, and digital innovation. He’s a graphic artist, web developer, and corporate communications professional at the Development Bank of Nigeria. As CEO of Mave Publishing and creative director of Jigsaw Reef, Charles channels his artistry into business, branding, and beyond. Though not a “writer” by trade, he’s got a knack for turning abstract thoughts into words—and he likes to think of himself as The Mastermind behind it all.

Caroline

Caroline and Charlene are twins in thought and timing, and equally humanities-focused. She’s a creative connoisseur: reading, writing, sketching, and falling for abstract art (especially Tahlia Stanton). Quiet by nature, her mind buzzes with ponderings about human society, stories yet to be told, and the many patterns that swirl around everyday life.

Why Subtle Arts?

Because life isn’t always loud and sometimes it’s the soft whispers, the sideways glances, and the hidden details that tell the most honest stories. We dive into the little things: the quirky, the curious, the quietly profound. We’re here to share our reflections, sometimes serious, often playful - on being young, Nigerian, and beautifully human.
